Hello! ok, first things first this is me. Diyana. haha not orkid. ;D Wow! its a miracle huh me, as in diyana updating my blog. well, im bored & there's nothing much to do after checking my fb & email. haiss.. really bored i tell you! To that, Sezairi said: 'You know what, I'm really proud of the fact that my community voted for me. But anyone who thinks that the votes from the Malay community alone helped me win ... that's just stupid.

'We're a small part of the population.'

Even on the night of the finale, he was not spared from being made to feel - like he has been most of this season - that he didn't belong in the competition.

Judge Ken Lim, who had earlier called him a 'barber' - whatever that meant - and suggested he lacked star quality, put him down even before the final performance began.

He announced that he would have 'preferred Tabitha (Nauser, who was placed third) to be (at the finals) for commercial reasons'.

Used to being the underdog, Sezairi said the comment spurred him on to prove Ken wrong.

'I just wanted to go up there and prove that I belonged on that stage,' he said. 'It made me want to do better, for sure.'

After outperforming judges' favourite Sylvia with Jamiroquai's Virtual Insanity, Aerosmith's Crazy and a more polished version of Idol coronation song Touched By An Angel, he was voted the winner.

Unexpected

'It was completely unexpected,' he said.

On some level, he said, he understands some of the hate that's been coming his way.

'I think, if I were a Sylvia fan, I would be really upset too,' he said. 'Because her dreams would be my dreams, you know?'

Surely, though, her fans' disappointment didn't have to turn into malice?

'All I can say is that, if someone is expressing those feelings... they probably didn't watch the finals,' he said. 'I'm just glad I took part this year, when I was more mature to deal with all this.'

He considered auditioning for Singapore Idol in the earlier seasons, in 2004 and 2006, but chickened out.

His third attempt, he told The New Paper last month, was a 'nothing to lose' situation.

He dropped out of LaSalle College of the Arts after failing one of his subjects last year, and was spending his days playing gigs and wondering how to start work on an EP (a short collection of songs) so he could kick off his music career.

Joining Idol changed all that. From a broke musician who sometimes had no money for lunch, he has become a national figure, with more than 20,000 fans on his Facebook page.

The day after the finale, he was back at work with his Idol buddies, rehearsing for Celebrate 2010, the New Year's Eve countdown shown over Channel 5.

It was only on Friday that he managed to enjoy a proper celebration. His friends and some of the Idol finalists surprised him with a party at a friend's studio.

'It was kind of special, because I hadn't really had time to do a celebratory thing,' he said.

In the midst of the post-Idol drama, he has been focusing on getting the wheels turning on his debut album, which he promised will be 'unique' and 'soulful'.

'Think John Legend, but with a guitar.'

He revealed that he has already sent a 10-song demo to Universal Music, who will produce the album.

He promised, too, that his NS enlistment will not affect the album's release date.

'It's still going to come out, hopefully in April,' he said.

He planned long ago that he would join the army's Music & Drama Company, to make sure he remains focused on his music.

Because of a spine condition, he says his schedule is likely to be more 'relaxed', giving him time to work on his music.

Sezairi is ready for sleepless weekends and, yes, being away from his girlfriend of a year, who, he says, is an 'awesome person'.

She's the one who suggested he sing Aerosmith's Crazy for the finale.

For sticking by him throughout the five-month Idol journey, he 'customised' singer Steven Tyler's opening lines just for her, swopping the original 'seems like you got somethin' on your mind' for a half-apology: 'I know I promised you this Idol thing was just gonna last a while, but now, it's gonna take a much longer time than that'.

Cue a collective sigh from the fan girls?

Of potential army buddies who may poke fun at him and his new-found celebrity, he laughed and said he would keep his 'head down and stay humble'.

'Last year, my resolution was to have an album. So it was kind of surreal to wake up last Monday (the day after the finale) and hear my song on the radio,' he said with a laugh, referring to Touched By An Angel, his first single.

The events of the past week have made him more determined to do well.

To anyone who still doubts that he won Idol on anything else but merit, he had only this to say:

'You know what? I think I did a good job.'
